*** Ricky Martin to star in TV special
The special will be recorded in New York on the 17th September.
Ricky made it: he is No.1 for the third consecutive week in the UK Single Charts with Livin' La Vida Loca. It is the first time since Cher in 1998 that there is a three-week run at the Number One spot.
Watch out for Ricky on TV:
Ricky, who has recorded a video for a forthcoming release with Madonna called 'Be Careful With My Heart (Cuidado Con Mi Corazon)' was in London on Thursday (July 15) to sign interviews at the Virgin Megastore. The crowds that gathered forced police to close the end of Oxford Street giving us a clear an indication of Ricky's phenomenal rise in popularity.
Steps' 'Love's Got A Hold On My Heart' is probably the weakest single that the band have released to date, yet with such a substantial fan base to draw on Ricky Martin has done well to retain the position.
It has been reported on local US Radio that Ricky is very upset on how the latest ticket sales were handled in the US and promises fans that they will have another chance to buy tickets very shortly. Angelo Medina, Ricky's manager, has mentioned in a recent telephone interview that there are new US dates planned for March/April 2000.
Angelo Medina stated that the European dates planned for late September early October this year have been postponed until next year June 2000. Reason for this is the hectic schedule for Ricky this year. Instead Ricky will be bringing his "Living La Vida Loca" Tour to Europe in June 2000 which not only features concerts in Spain, Italy and France but also England and many other European countries in which Ricky has not yet played live.
Ricky Martin's video for his new single "She's All I Ever Had" will debut on MTV's TRL at 3pm ET on August 6th.
Ricky has been confirmed to perform at a) the US MTV Video Music Awards on 9/9/1999 and b) the MTV Europe Music Awards in Dublin, Ireland in November 1999.
Ricky Martin will be visiting Argentina on August 11th and 12th. One of the programmes being produced during his stay is a special about his life and career. On December 3rd Ricky will be playing a concert in Buenos Aires.
"Be Careful" - the duet with Madonna on Ricky's latest album "Ricky Martin" is scheduled for release just before christmas. Due to Madonna's busy schedule (acting for a new film as we speak, plus playing Theatre straight after) Ricky and Madonna did not manage to schedule time for the video shoot before December. The video for "Be Careful" will now be shot in San Juan, Puerto Rico in early December.
For anyone who is interested in any of the dancers or models for "Livin' La Vida Loca" - check out Nina Moric's website: http://members.tripod.com/~NinaMoric. She is the Croatian model in the video.
Menudo in Miami: Menudo's concert in Miami which features Ricky Martin singing with the group, will be re-released on video on August 10th in the US.

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta fans went loco for tickets to Latin sensation
Ricky Martin's upcoming concert. The Oct. 24 show sold out in 30
minutes. Even at $97 apiece, the best of the 15,000 seats at the new
Philips Arena, which hasn't even opened yet, were the first to go
when they went on sale Saturday. "It's a hot show. It's the best
sales we could have ever expected," said concert promoter Amy Helbert
of Concert Southern Promotions. The Atlanta concert is the only one
scheduled in the Southeast, outside Florida, on a 15-city tour this
fall, Helbert said.

There are rumours that Ricky Martin has been offered between $500,000 and $1Million for a special guest appearance on General Hospital. A US soap in which Ricky starred as Miguel in 1994.
"It's not just the ladies that are going wild for Latin singing sensation Ricky Martin. It appears as though two magazine publishers, Primedia Inc and Sterling MacFadden, have also been going "loca" for Martin. In 1998 Sterling MacFadden sold its teen group of magazinse including the ever-popular Teen Beat, Tiger Beat and Superteen to Primedia Inc. The trouble started when Sterling MacFadden announced plans to put Martin on the cover of its Daytime Digest Summer Soap magazine. Primedia attempted to prevent the publication of the cover featuring the singer on the grounds that the magazine violated a non-compete clause in the agreement between the two publishers. After first issuing a temporary restraining order, the New York State Supreme Court refused to grant a preliminary injuntion that would have prevented publication of the magazine, but ordered that the magazine be sold at retail along side other Soap magazines. An Appellate judge refused to grant Primedia a further stay pending appeal, allowing publication of the magazine to go forward. The special Daytime Digest Summer Soap magazine issue featuring Martin is at Newsstands now."
