AUSTRALIA/SEASIA TOUR POSTPONED
Puerto Rican pop sensation Ricky Martin has been forced to postpone the Australian and South-East Asian dates of his world tour due to an equipment hitch.
The 28-year-old chart-topper was due to perform in March and April but equipment needed for his elaborate stage shows was not loaded on to a ship bound for Australia, said a spokesperson.

GRAMMY AWARDS
Martin is renowned for his dramatic live performances and he shot to superstardom in the US following his hip-swivelling debut at the 1999 Grammy awards.
His North American tour dates were a huge hit, with tickets for some venues selling out in a matter of minutes.
Martin proved he can still set the crowds alight with his performance inside a ring of fire at this week's Grammys.
But he failed to win any of the four awards he was nominated for, which included Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Record Of The Year.

Ricky Martin will be performing a medley of Copa De La Vida, Maria and Livin' La Vida Loca at this year's Brits awards, taking place at Earls Court, London on March 3.
It now has been confirmed that the Australian tour has been postponed until later on in the year. The original schedule from earlier in the year carried a touring period for late August/early September. The reason for postponing the dates are problems with carrying the full production to Australia in March.
Ricky's promotion trip to Europe at the end of February will consist of visits to the following countries: France, England, Spain, Greece, Germany plus possibly Italy and Netherlands.
A local radio station in Fort Lauderdale has announced two dates for Ricky in Ft Lauderdale: 8 and 9 June. Tickets will be going on sale early March.

participating in Rio de Janeiro's carnival, which is about to take place
this year.
According to the daily Extra, Martin wants to participate in a very active way, by dancing along with the Portela Samba School, one of the many organizations that put on their street dances as part of one the world's most spectacular street events.
Ricky's managers have already established contact with the samba school directors, who expressed concern about paparazzi and how they would affect their escola's performance.
Ricky is not new to the experience. In 1997 he danced nights away alongside Portela school members, becoming the target of an endless number of paparazzi and TV cameras. ««

Latin pop sensation Ricky Martin got a little help from his friends when shooting his new video, but U.S. fans won't get to see the benefits of Martin's teamwork.The singer recently shot three different romantic, special effect-driven videos for his song "Private Emotion" in Los Angeles, and Swedish singer Meja and Turkish pop star Sertab joined in for two of the clips. While neither appears in the U.S. video version, Meja will be featured in the international version and Sertab will be in Martin's Turkish clip singing Meja's part.
U.S. fans will get to see Martin sharing screen time with model Aurelie in the video, which should hit the airwaves near the end of the month.

Ricky's trip as part of the Brazilian Carneval (as reported in September 1999) is still in the making. The Samba School Portela's is in contact with the artist management to discuss the appearance of Ricky during their week of Carneval activity. Last time Ricky took part in the Carneval Parade in 1997 he remained in a car during the parade. This year the Portela would like to have him as one of the Carneval dancers. The tentative date is March 5, 2000. As soon as we have further information we'll let you know.

Ricky set the record straight that he will NOT stay in St. Thomas. The helicopter was wither taking him to Caguas to his house or to Isla de Lobos, a little island in Puerto Rico. He said that he will stay in his homeland because he is Boricua and he ain't getting out of there!!
