TELEMUNDO SNAGS 1-YEAR CONTRACT WITH RICKY MARTIN

Ricky Martin has signed a one-year contract with Telemundo, giving the network exclusive Spanish-language TV access to the Latin pop star. The agreement, reached Monday and revealed Tuesday, gives Telemundo unique access to Martin as he begins his yearlong Livin La Vida Loca Tour. The pact includes an exclusive behind the scenes special that a network spokesman said would probably air in September.

Other terms of the contract:

• a video biography of Martin, including "unexpected and previously untold stories" about his, "life, loves and private past;"
• weekly updates and features on Martin on Occurio Asi and Edicion Especial;
• Telemundo talk show host Jaime Bayly traveling with and reporting on the Asian leg of Martin's tour;
• ticket giveaways and other Martin related promotions throughout the year.

Telemundo and Martin continue to huddle about rights to an additional concert show. The network hopes to televise Martin's Madison Square Garden concert when the tour moves to New York this fall. As reported previously, the Grammy winning star will also appear in a CBS special this fall.
