With the typical diplomacy that characterizes him, Ricky Martin said, "Thanks, but no thanks," to the numerous invitations he received from the Republican and Democratic parties to attend their political conventions.
The Republican Party insisted the most on this since it already knows the young Puerto Rican's presence would give the event a particular and less traditional touch to the entity, and in turn this would help it project itself to the young electorate. Even George W. Bush, the Republican presidential candidate, extended an invitation to the artist while he was performing in Texas. The convention was scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 3.
Other than the obvious reasons of not wanting to be biased on political matters, Ricky has dedicated himself to the recording of his next album in English and to the last part of his North American tour.
