Una vez más Cosmo se reunió con el príncipe del pop latino y logramos que nos hiciera algunas confesiones íntimas.

Es considerado un ícono de la cultura pop mundial, ha recibido los más prestigiosos galardones de la industria musical (incluyendo el Premio a la Personalidad del Año en los Grammy Latinos 2006), y sus obras humanitarias le han ganado el título de Embajador de la Buena Voluntad de UNICEF.

La voz no es sólo su intrumento laboral, es su mejor aliada para combartir la pornografía infantil y la trata humana. Sin duda, Ricky Martin es un hombre de paz. Pero también es tremendo vacilón. De pronto, intercala populares frases puertorriqueñas en sus respuestas, y aunque intentes reprimirte, no puedes evitar reírte con él. Después de entrar en confianza, se confiesa: “Por amor he hecho el rídiculo, he cancelado conciertos...” Y no se repite. Es original y siempre tiene algo nuevo que contar, como que practica rituales de fin de año, o que no quiere que nadie meta la mano en la olla si está en la cocina, o que tiene momentos sensuales y sexuales. Cosmo ¿Tienes baúles con recuerdos, notitas, fotos antiguas...?
Ricky No es que diga: “Tengo esta foto y la voy a guardar”. Es más, a veces pienso que algunas fotografías se me han perdido. Entonces, me mudo y de pronto aparecen cosas que digo: “Wow! ¿Qué es esto?”, porque se me había olvidado que existían. Pero no soy de los que se obsesionan con los recuerdos, aunque hay imágenes que te siguen... Te traen un buen sabor de boca, o a lo mejor uno no tan bueno.

C Acerca de los sueños, ¿algunos te han revelado mensajes?
R. Sí, porque cuando son recurrentes, surgen por una razón y casi siempre cuando estoy pasando por algo. Exactamente no me preguntes qué soñé, porque ya no lo recuerdo bien. Pero creo mucho en los sueños y los analizo por la mañana. Tengo un libro que se llama El diccionario de los sueños, y a veces voy a buscar qué significa el agua o un anillo, por ejemplo. Pero los analizo, y si me conviene el resultado final, me aferro a ellos; si no, los borro de la memoria [risas].

C ¿Y cómo logras borrar episodios negativos o situaciones dolorosas que has vivido?
R.La cicatrización viene con el tiempo. También me ayuda la meditación... Pero sobre todo, darle tiempo al tiempo. Cuando sueltas ese sentido de control, cicatrizas; de esa manera te liberas.

C Obviamente, eres un hombre famoso. La gente estudia el significado de tus gestos, tu estilo, analizan tus fotos... ¡de todo! Pero a través de tus trabajos y por la labor de tu Fundación Ricky Martin, pienso que eres un hombre muy romántico. ¿Estoy en lo cierto?
R.Tengo mis momentos de cursilería [risas]. No me arrepiento y lo digo a los cuatro vientos si es necesario.

C ¿Cómo lo manifiestas?
R.Haciendo el ridículo normalmente.

C Eso significa...
R. Que lo hago siendo honesto, espontáneo. De verdad, no te puedo decir “normalmente hago esto”, porque ahí pierdo la espontaneidad. Pero aprovecho las situaciones y los escenarios para ser lo más creativo posible. Yo trabajé con un productor musical que una vez me dijo: “Ricky, para ser exitoso en la vida uno tiene que arriesgarse a hacer el ridículo”. Me lo he tomado en serio y me ha ido muy bien. No me puedo quejar.

C Me imagino que eres consciente de que tu “bum-bum” ha sido muy admirado y bien acogido entre tus fans. ¿En algún momento te ha dado vergüenza moverte en el escenario?
R. [Risas] Yo te juro a ti... No sé que haré para que me creas. Pero te juro que en ningún momento mi intención fue hacer algo para que mi bum-bum fuera famoso [risas]. Qué te puedo decir... En Puerto Rico —así como en toda Latinoamérica— tenemos el sabor y el ritmo en las venas. No sé si es esa mezcla de la cultura del indio, el africano y el europeo lo que nos hace bailar y mover las caderas. Para mucha gente es un movimiento sexual, pero nosotros lo vemos como un movimiento sensual y, simplemente, es así; es parte de nuestra naturaleza. Yo tengo un problema, en momentos me he visto tratando de contenerme, porque no quiero que la gente malinterprete la forma en que bailo. Pero después digo: “Sabes qué, ¡no!” Yo bailo así y no me importa [risas]. No me puedo reprimir. Es algo de mi naturaleza. Sería dañino para mi espíritu si lo hiciera”.

C Hablabas de clasificaciones. ¿Cómo te consideras tú: sensual o sexual?
R. Tengo momento sensuales y sexuales. Volvemos a lo mismo, no voy por la vida tratando de probar nada. Soy como soy y trato de ser espontáneo. La vida y las caretas te llenan de limitaciones. Para mí esas limitaciones son el peor problema que tiene la sociedad hoy. Las limitaciones nacen por el control y el control está matando a la gente.

C ¿Eres de los que piensan que solo se ama una vez en la vida o, por el contrario, que el corazón se abre intensamente en diversas ocasiones?
R. Yo espero esa emoción y eso que se siente cuando estás Y enamorado... No sé, me doy la oportunidad. Es maravilloso estar en ese estado. Volvemos a las limitaciones, ¿por qué? Primero que todo, nadie es igual a nadie. Si en algún momento fuiste lastimada, no cambies tu forma de amar. A veces, la gente por el trauma y el dolor que sintió cuando lo entregó todo y no lo sintió de vuelta, no vuelve a ser la misma. Yo no, yo pienso que la vida es corta para prohibirte una emoción tan humana como el amor.

C Has compartido públicamente ese aspecto de tu vida con una sola mujer, Rebeca de Alba. ¿Ella ha sido la única que ha ganado ese espacio en tu corazón o has preferido mantener lo tuyo calladito?
R. Uno lo entrega todo en este ambiente. Pero yo juré un día que entregaría todo menos mi intimidad. Si decidía compartir mi intimidad lo iba a hacer por decisión propia, no porque me lo pidiera alguien. A mí me sabe mejor hacerlo de esta manera. Eso es lo que vale.

C ¿Cómo eres cuando amas?
R. No sé como soy [risas].

The voice is not only his labor instrument, is his better ally to fight the infantile pornography and the human treat. Without a doubt, Ricky Martin is a peace man. But also is tremendous. Suddenly, he puts popular Puerto Rican phrases in his answers, and although you try to repress yourself, you can not avoid laughing with him. After entering confidence, he confessed: "Because of love I have done ridiculous situation, I have cancelled concerts..." And he do not repeated. He is original and always has something new that tell, like he practices rituals in the new years evenging, or that he does want that anybody goal the hand in the pot if it is in the kitchen, or that he has sensual and sexual moments. Cosmo: Do you have trunks with memories, little notes, old photos...?

Ricky: It is not that I say: "I have this photo and I am going to keep it". But, sometimes I think that I had lost some photographies. Then, I change home and suddenly appear things and I say: "Wow! What is this ", because I had forgotten that they existed. But I am not of the ones that are obsessed with the memories, although are images that follow you... They bring a good flavor of mouth, or perhaps one not so good.

C. About the dreams, some have revealed you messages?

R. Yes, because when is recurrent, they arise almost always for a reason and when I am happening through something. Dont ask me exactly what I dreamed, because I don´t remember it good. But I believe much in the dreams and I analyze them in the morning. I have a book that is called the dictionary of the dreams, and sometimes I´m going to look for what means the water or a ring, for example. But I analyze them, and if I agree with the final result, I cling to them; if not, I erase them of my memory [ laughs ].

C. And how you manage to erase negative episodes or painful situations that you have lived?

R. The healing comes with time. Also the meditation helps me... But mainly, to give time to the time. When you loose that sense of control, you heal; in that way you free yourself.

C. Obviously, you are a famous man. People study the meaning of your gestures, your style, analyze your photos... everything! But through your works and by the work of your Foundation, I think that you are a very romantic man. Am I right?

R. I have my moments of "cursilería" (dont know the meaning in english but it´s like a ridiculous things that you do when you´re in love) [ laughs ]. I do not regret and I say it to four winds if it is necessary.

C. How do you manifest it?

R. Making the ridiculous, normally.

C. That means...

R. That I do it being honest, spontaneous. Really, I can not say to you "normally I do this", because there I lose the spontaneous thing. But I take advantage of the situations and the scenes to be the most creative possible. I worked with a musical producer that once said me: "Ricky, to be successful in the life you must risk to make the ridiculous". I have taken it seriously and it has gone to me very well. I cannot complained.

C. I imagine that you are conscious that your "bum-bum" has been admired and welcomed between your fans. At some moment it has given you shame moving you in the scene?

R. [ Laughs] I swear to you... I do not know what I will do so that you believe me. But I swear to you that in any moment my intention was to do something so that my bum-bum was famous [ laughter ]. What I can say to you... In Puerto Rico - as well as in all Latin America we have the flavor and the rythm in the veins. I do not know if it is that mixture of the culture of the Indian, African and the European what it makes us dance and move the hips. For much people it is a sexual movement, but we see it like a sensual movement and, simply, that´s it; it is part of our nature. I have a problem, at moments I have seen myself trying to contain to me, because I do not want that people misinterpret the form in which I dance. But later I say: "You know what, no" I dance like this and I don´t care.[laughs] I cannot repress myself. It is something of my nature. It would be harmful for my spirit if it did it.

C. You spoke of classifications. How you consider yourself: sensual or sexual?

R. I have sensual and sexual moments. We return to the same, I do not go in life treating to prove anything. I am as I am and I try to be espontaneous. The life and the masks fill you of limitations. For me those limitations are the worse problem that has the society today. The limitations are born by the control and the control is killing people.

C. Are you like the ones that think that you only love once in life, or by the opposite, that heart is opened intensely in different occasions?

R. I wait for that emotion and what you feels when you are in love... I dont know, I give me the chance. It´s wonderful to be in that emotion. We return to the limitations, why? First, nobody is equal to anybody. If at some moment you were hurt, do not change your form to love. Sometimes, the people, because of the sensation and the pain that felt when gave everything and did not feel it in return, do not be the same. I dont, I think that life is short for forbid yourself a so human emotion like is the love.

C. You have shared publicly that aspect of your life with only one woman, Rebeca de Alba. Does she has been the unique one who has gained that space in your heart or you have preferred to maintain yours shut up?

R. One gives everything to in this atmosphere. But I swore a day that I would give everything except my privacy. If I decided to share my privacy I´m going to do it by my own decision, not because somebody requested me. To me it better to do it this way. That is what worth.

C. How are you when you love?

R. I do not know how am I. [ laughs ].
